SMART DIESEL EXHAUST BRAKE
The 6.7L Cummins® Turbo Diesel l6 engine features a Diesel Exhaust Brake for optimal control. When the vehicle is traveling above 5 mph (8 km/hr) engage either of 2 operating modes:
- Full “Normal” Mode: Normal mode is active when the Exhaust Brake indicator is on and turned yellow. This mode allows the exhaust brake to automatically engage when the driver lets off the accelerator, applying full braking power.
- Automatic “Smart” Mode: Automatic Smart Mode is active when the Exhaust Brake indicator is on and turned green. Smart Mode applies varying braking power to maintain steady vehicle speed with less noticeable braking, only applying stronger braking as needed. This mode is designed for smoother operation on downhill grades.
6.4L HEMI® V8 ENGINE
Built for heavy-duty demands, the 6.4L HEMI® V8 engine features a cast-iron block that delivers exceptional structural rigidity and durability, paired with lightweight aluminum cylinder heads that use hemispherical combustion chambers to improve airflow and heat dissipation. A forged steel crankshaft provides the strength needed to withstand high torque output and continuous heavy-load operation. To support commercial customers’ need for additional electrical capacity, a dual-alternator option is also available and is capable of supporting snowplow equipment, 120-volt bed outlets, worksite lighting and other high-draw equipment.
