The 2012 Ram 1500 came out ontop, as it was named among Consumers Digest’s “Best Buys” in the automotive category for 2012. It was recognized for its smooth-riding suspension, V-6-powered entry-level availability, and optional 5.7-liter 390-hp HEMI V8. Consumer Digest also recognized the RamBox® Cargo Management System for its lockable, drainable storage, noting, “You can put groceries next to a load of gravel.” Editors chose vehicles for the honor based on ergonomics, fit and finish, utility, acceleration, and fuel economy, among other factors.
