- Transmission choices

Ram Chassis Cab offers a variety of engine and transmission combinations so you can configure a powertrain that meets your needs. The automatic transmissions feature Electronic Range Select and Tow / Haul mode.
Electronic Range Select allows the driver to manually limit the highest available transmission gear, thereby allowing manual upshifts and downshifts based on road speed and engine speed.
Tow / Haul mode improves vehicle performance and fuel economy while minimizing engine noise during trailer towing or heavy-load hauling. When Tow / Haul mode is selected, a revised shift schedule is used to provide more power and reduce transmission shift changes and "gear hunting." The Tow / Haul switch is located in the center stack of the instrument panel.
- Axle ratios

Ram Chassis Cabs offer you the choice of five rear axle ratios: 3.42 (3500 only), 3.73 (3500 only), 4.10 (3500 & 4500 only), 4.44 and 4.88. A limited-slip rear differential is standard.
- Power Takeoff (PTO)

Ram Chassis Cabs boast an impressive available Power Takeoff (PTO) capacity of 35 horsepower and 135 lb-ft of torque. It features torque converter lock-up and programmable set speed for convenience and safety. A PTO unit is an aftermarket gearbox that attaches to the side of the transmission to power an accessory, such as a tandem hydraulic pump which drives dump bodies, roll back wreckers, aerial buckets, etc. To learn more, visit
